Your manuscript is yours. Period.

Three concrete layers of protection, clear rules on what we delete and what we keep, direct control from your account. No hidden clauses, no "forever" retention, no commercial use of your data.

The three layers of protection

What happens to your manuscript, the report, and the statistical data. Three separate rules, three different time horizons.

Your manuscript

Automatically deleted from our servers seven days after the report is sent. You can delete it immediately at any time from your user area, without waiting. Neither the file nor any of your other data is ever sold, shared with third parties, or used to train AI systems.

The report

Stays in your account, downloadable any time. We don't delete it automatically. If you delete the book, we also delete its reports. If you delete the account, everything is deleted.

The anonymous statistical data

We keep the report scores (numerical, dimension by dimension, outcome level, length, category) dissociated from you and your manuscript. We use them, in future reports, to tell you where a new manuscript stands relative to others in the same category.

What we don't ask

To serve you, Manuscriptum asks only the essential: your manuscript and an email address where to send the report. Everything else stays yours.

We know most online services collect more data than they need. We took the opposite path: we collect the bare minimum required to deliver the report. No profiling, no list reselling, no endless forms.

  • No first or last name
  • No phone number
  • No mailing address
  • No date of birth or gender
  • No card details or IBAN (Stripe handles them for us, we don't see nor store them)

This is not a compromise: it's an editorial choice. The principle of data minimization feels to us the most respectful way to treat those who entrust us with a manuscript.

Your GDPR rights, directly from your account

You don't even need to ask. The rights set out by GDPR are integrated into your user profile, activated with one click.

  • Right of access — see all the data we hold on you from the Account page
  • Right to rectification — change email, preferred language, and other preferences whenever you want
  • Right to erasure — permanently delete account, books, versions, reports with one click
  • Right to portability — download all your data in JSON format from the Account page
  • Right to object — disable marketing communications at any time
