Cookie Notice (Cookie Policy)
Manuscriptum — manuscriptum.ai
Notice pursuant to Art. 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive) and Measure No. 231 of 10 June 2021 of the Italian Data Protection Authority (“Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools”)
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send to the user’s device, where they are stored and sent back to the same websites on the next visit. Cookies allow the website to recognise the user’s device and remember information relating to previous visits, such as preferred language, access credentials and display preferences.
In addition to cookies, other technologies perform similar functions, including web storage, fingerprinting and pixel tags. In this notice, “cookie” is used broadly to include all such technologies, on the understanding that the Site does not use fingerprinting or other individual tracking techniques, unless otherwise specified.
2. Data Controller
The Data Controller is:
[FIRST NAME LAST NAME PROVIDER] Natural person carrying out professional activity under an Italian VAT registration Operating address: [PROVIDER ADDRESS] VAT number: [PROVIDER VAT NUMBER] Email: info@manuscriptum.ai Certified email (PEC): manuscriptum.ai@pec.it
For complete information on personal data processing, please refer to the Website’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (Legal section).
3. Cookies used by the Website
The manuscriptum.ai Website uses only technical cookies necessary for operation of the service. The Website does not use profiling cookies, advertising cookies, third-party marketing cookies or individual user tracking tools.
3.1 List of technical cookies
| Cookie name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
manuscriptum_session |
Technical session cookie | User authentication. Contains an encrypted session token (SHA-256 hash) enabling the server to recognise the authenticated user without requiring a new login on every page. HTTPOnly and SameSite=Lax cookie. Secure flag active in production. | 30 days | Manuscriptum (first party) |
lang |
Technical preference cookie | Stores the interface language selected by the user (it, fr, en, es), so that automatic detection is not needed on every visit. | 1 year | Manuscriptum (first party) |
3.2 Traffic analysis — Plausible Analytics (without cookies)
The Website uses Plausible Analytics to collect aggregated traffic statistics. Plausible is a GDPR-compliant web analytics service that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not record IP addresses, does not generate user identifiers, does not perform fingerprinting, produces only aggregated statistics and is established in the European Union (Estonia). Plausible does not transfer data outside the EU.
Plausible does not require user consent under the ePrivacy Directive and Measure 231/2021, since it does not install cookies or access information stored on the user’s device.
Technical note on the IP address. The user's IP address is used exclusively in transient form, in memory, for the sole purpose of generating an anonymous daily identifier (SHA-256 hash of IP + user agent + domain + salt), and is not stored in any persistent form. The salt used for the hash calculation is rotated automatically every 24 hours, making it impossible to reconstruct the user's identity or to correlate sessions across different days.

4. Third-party cookies
The Website does not install third-party cookies. In particular, it does not use profiling or advertising cookies, social media widgets that install cookies, remarketing or retargeting services, or analytics services that install cookies such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel.
Lemon Squeezy Checkout: when the User proceeds to payment, they are redirected to the payment page hosted by Lemon Squeezy (checkout.manuscriptum.ai, alias of the domain cnames.lemonsqueezy.com). The Controller ensures that this redirect is preceded by visible information to the User about the nature of the transition to the Merchant of Record and the identity of the MoR, in line with the transparency obligation under art. 49 of the Italian Consumer Code and art. 13 of the GDPR. Lemon Squeezy acts as the Merchant of Record (consumer-facing reseller) and issues the invoice/receipt directly to the User. On that page, Lemon Squeezy may install technical cookies necessary to manage the transaction and fraud prevention. These cookies are managed directly by Lemon Squeezy according to its cookie policy (https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/legal/cookie-policy) and are not under the Controller’s control. The User accesses the Lemon Squeezy page only at the time of payment and voluntarily.
5. Legal basis
The technical cookies listed in section 3.1 are exempt from prior consent under Art. 122(1) of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC because they are strictly necessary to provide the service explicitly requested by the User.
Measure No. 231/2021 of the Italian Data Protection Authority confirms that technical cookies, including session cookies and functional preference cookies, require only a notice and not consent.
6. How to manage cookies
The User may manage cookie preferences through browser settings. Disabling technical cookies may impair Website operation, in particular authentication and storage of the preferred language.
Instructions for the main browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

7. Cookie banner
Because the Website uses only technical cookies and Plausible Analytics, which does not install cookies, the Website displays an informational banner notifying the User of technical cookies and referring to this Cookie Policy, without requesting active consent for non-necessary cookies, as none are present.
If the Website introduces non-technical cookies in the future, the banner will be updated with the granular consent options required by applicable law, in accordance with the opt-in principle and the prohibition of dark patterns.
8. Changes to this notice
The Controller may amend this notice at any time, in particular if the cookies used or the applicable legislation change. Changes are published on the Website with the last-updated date.
Where the changes entail the introduction of non-technical cookies (profiling, analytics with individual tracking, third-party), the Controller updates the Site banner in advance with the granular consent options required by applicable law, pursuant to Italian Garante Decision No. 231/2021, and follows, for its publication, the prior-notice timelines provided for restrictive modifications of the main Document (Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, paragraph 11.1.3, lett. a).

11. Language of the document
This Cookie Policy is drafted in Italian. Versions in French, English and Spanish are made available on the Website for the benefit of Users who do not read Italian. In the event of interpretive conflict between the Italian version and the translations, the Italian version prevails. Without prejudice to the foregoing, for the consumer User residing in another EU Member State, the protective provisions of the law of his/her country of habitual residence remain applicable, pursuant to art. 6 of Regulation (EC) 593/2008 (Rome I).
