The product

What exactly does Manuscriptum do?

Manuscriptum analyses your manuscript (non-fiction, fiction, or university theses) through specialised AI and returns two PDFs: an executive summary of a few pages with score, outcome, and main recommendations, and a detailed analysis with observations dimension by dimension, direct quotations from the text, and concrete suggestions.

Which categories of manuscript can you assess?

Three: non-fiction, fiction, university theses (bachelor's, master's, doctoral). For each category we have specific assessment dimensions, calibrated for the relevant editorial or academic criteria. Details on the Methodology page.

In which languages does it work?

Italian, French, English, Spanish. All four natively, not as translations. You upload the manuscript in its original language and receive the report in the same language. You can also request the report in a language different from the manuscript's, if needed.

Does Manuscriptum correct the manuscript?

No. Manuscriptum is an assessment tool, not a correction tool. It doesn't rewrite the text, doesn't fix grammatical or spelling errors. What we give you is a structured reading of the manuscript's solidity, which you then work on yourself.

Does Manuscriptum guarantee the publication of my book?

No. The decision to publish a manuscript belongs solely to the publisher. Manuscriptum helps you present a stronger work, aware of your strengths and improved compared with the initial weaknesses of the draft. Nothing more, nothing less.

Does Manuscriptum detect plagiarism or AI-generated text?

No. Manuscriptum is not a plagiarism detector and does not determine whether a text (or parts of it) was written by a human or generated by an artificial intelligence system. For originality checks there are dedicated tools (Turnitin, iThenticate, Compilatio); for AI detection no tool currently on the market delivers consistently reliable results, and decisions on the matter remain with the publisher or the academic supervisor in any case. Manuscriptum assesses the editorial and argumentative quality of the manuscript, regardless of how it was produced: authorship is declared by you.

Pricing and payments

How much does an assessment cost?

The first assessment costs €16.99. The second €15.99. From the third onward, €14.99. The price drops with use and is cumulative across different books and different categories. See the Pricing page for full details.

Is there a subscription?

No. Never. Manuscriptum is pay-per-use: you pay when you request an assessment, no recurring monthly fees, no automatic renewals. If you don't ask us for anything for two months, you don't pay anything.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You can have an extract up to 2,500 words assessed for free, once per registered email, receiving a reduced report that gives you a sense of how the service works before purchasing a full assessment.

Can I pay in dollars, pounds, or other currencies?

Yes. The reference currency is the euro, but if you pay from a country with a different currency, the payment platform automatically converts at the day's rate and shows the amount in your local currency at checkout. Manuscriptum doesn't apply a margin on the exchange.

Privacy and data

What do you do with my manuscript?

We have it processed by the specialised AI platform we use to generate the report. We don't read it directly, we don't share it with commercial third parties, we don't sell it, we don't use it to train any AI system. Seven days after the report is sent, the file is deleted from our servers. Intellectual property of the manuscript stays entirely yours. See the Privacy page.

Can I delete the manuscript before the seven days?

Yes. From the book page or the dashboard you can delete the manuscript file immediately, without waiting. The book record with the reports already received stays intact.

What do you keep forever?

Only the numerical scores of the reports you've received, dissociated from you and from your manuscript. We use them for the comparison within your category. No text, no personal identifiers, nothing that could trace back to you.

How do I delete my account?

From the Account page, "Danger zone" section. Click, confirm, everything deleted: books, versions, reports, personal data. Irreversible operation, as required by the GDPR right to erasure.

Technical aspects

Which formats can I upload?

Files in .md (Markdown), .txt (plain text), .docx (Microsoft Word), .pdf (with selectable text, not scans). Maximum length 200,000 words.

How long does it take to receive the report?

Five to ten minutes from payment, typically. For very long manuscripts (over 150,000 words) it may take a few extra minutes. You can close the window: we'll email you when the report is ready.

Can I assess the same work more than once?

Yes, and we recommend it. Manuscriptum supports multiple versions of the same manuscript, and from the second version onward the report includes a comparison section with the previous version. See Versioning for details.

What happens if the system has a problem during the analysis?

If the analysis fails for technical issues on our side, we automatically retry up to three times. If the problem persists, we contact you directly to agree on a solution (free regeneration or refund). That said, so far it has never happened.
